{Tag making with mixed media - gilded butterflies}

Sometimes it just has to happen!
Getting messy on the craft table has to happen to create something fun and luxurious... well it does with me.

These sort of projects just take a little bit of thought, lots of layering, and a fearlessness with your craft supplies.  To get the textures it's worth tearing, shaping and looking how different elements look against each other.

This project also upcycled some cardboard packaging, the tags were cut from the backing card that the Stampin' Up! papers are packaged in.  They create a really sturdy base, which is needed for this type of project.

I was inspired by an image on Pinterest of a tag with 3 butterflies in a row.  It's such a classic layout for any card or tag, and one I use often.  When you have your basic layout, it is easier to layer other things.

These butterlies were created by colouring some silver foiled paper with Stampin Up's Alcohol pens, then stamped and heat embossed the butterfly image from Butterfly Gala.
